INDIANAPOLIS – Green Bay senior forward Sam Krenzien (Wauwatosa, Wis.) is the Horizon League Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while UIC’s freshman goalkeeper Andrew Putna (Lemont, Ill.) has earned Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 16 – Sept. 22.

Green Bay (4-2-2) kicked-off the weekend with a high scoring battle against Eastern Illinois, finishing up in a 4-4 tie in double overtime. The Phoenix came out strong Sunday to capture a win over NJIT to cap off the weekend.

Krenzien was a catalyst to Green Bay’s offense all weekend, netting two goals and ¬¬¬distributing two assists in the first match against Eastern Illinois. His offensive assault continued Sunday with an unassisted game-winning goal past NJIT’s goalkeeper. Krenzien had a hand in five of the six Phoenix goals over the weekend and was named to the all-tournament team for his efforts in the two games.

UIC (5-2-0) claimed first place in the UIC Soccer Classic, not allowing a single goal the entire weekend. The Flames defeated nationally-ranked Gonzaga on a lone goal of the contest, marking their third-consecutive shutout. UIC’s offense sparked Sunday afternoon as they notched four goals past IPFW’s goalkeeper.

Putna collected his fourth-consecutive shutout against IPFW and was named to the UIC Soccer Classic all-tournament team. Against Gonzaga, he made four saves to help ensure victory for the Flames in the close matchup. Putna improved his GAA to .86 at the conclusion of the weekend.

Green Bay travels to North Carolina to face UNC-Asheville on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 2:00 p.m. ET. UIC takes on Southern Illinois-Evanwardsville at Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. CT.

Top Offensive Performers of the Week:

Charles Barden, Valparaiso (Sr., MF) – Involved in three of the five Crusader goals scored against Western Illinois.  Goals scored in key moments; each coming shortly after a Leathernecks goal.
Adam Bedell, Detroit (Sr., MF) – Scored his first two goals of the season against Buffalo, each coming within five minutes of one another.
Jordan Hart, Cleveland State (Sr., F) – Scored two goals in the match against Duquesne.
Joey Tinnion, Oakland (Jr., F) – Scored a goal and had an assist in 2-0 win over IUPUI.
Jesus Torres, UIC (Jr., F/MF) – Scored the game-winning goal against IPFW as well as another goal and two assists. Named to the UIC Soccer Classic all-tournament team.
Rami Younes, Milwaukee (Jr., F) – Scored the eventual game-winner against WMU and added an assist during the match.

Top Defensive Performers of the Week:

Liam Anderson, Milwaukee (Fr., GK) – Posted his third and fourth shutouts of the season with a brilliant week. Has now recorded three straight clean sheets and four in the past five games. Lowered league-leading GAA to .41 on the year.
Sean Lewis, Oakland (Sr., GK) – Recorded second shutout of the season against IUPUI with two saves. He has not allowed a goal in the last 217:57.
Austin Saini, Cleveland State (So., GK) – Has tallied 11 saves in two starts on the year.
