INDIANAPOLIS -- Green Bay senior Lawrence Talery (Coon Rapids, Minn.) is the Horizon League Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while Wright State sophomore Tyler Blackmer (Boise, ID) is the Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 27-Nov. 2. This marks the second time Blackmer has collected the honor this season.

The Green Bay men’s soccer team collected its first conference win of the season against Valparaiso Saturday night. The Phoenix celebrated Senior Night in overtime fashion, defeating the Crusaders 2-1 in a come-from-behind battle.

With only 37 seconds remaining in the game and Green Bay trailing 1-0, Talery came in clutch for the Phoenix as he scored the game-tying goal on a redirected header into the back of the net. Teammate Defrim Ramushevski recorded the assist on the goal as he played the ball in the air that eventually found Talery. It wasn’t until nearly the end of the first overtime that Green Bay notched the game-winning goal. With six seconds left, Talery played a ball up to Tyler Swanner who then launched the ball past the Crusaders’ goalkeeper. As part of both goals for Green Bay on the night, Talery collected three points from his goal and assist.

Wright State headed north to Michigan to take on then conference-leader Oakland in a Saturday night matchup. After going down one goal, the Raiders fought back to tie the game on a goal from Bryce Rockwell-Ashton. The match would cycle through two overtime periods and result in a 1-1 draw.

Blackmer had a solid performance in between the posts for Wright State, allowing only a single goal in 110:00 minutes of work. The sophomore tallied 14 saves and faced 22 shots overall from Oakland.

Wright State travels north to take on Bowling Green on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. ET kick-off to conclude its regular and non-conference season. Green Bay faces Cleveland State Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET for its final regular season and conference match of the year.
