Milwaukee and Northern Kentucky moved to the top of the Horizon League women’s soccer table while Cleveland State, Valparaiso and Oakland collected their first conference victories of the season on Saturday night. In Cleveland State's win, senior Vickie Havas set a new career goals record.

Milwaukee 1, Wright State 0: Anna Smalley scored in the 18th minute and a strong second-half defensive effort by Milwaukee preserved a 1-0 victory over Wright State at WSU’s Alumni Field. The Panthers continued their strong start to the season with the victory over the Raiders, jumping out to 2-0 in conference action while making it through the month of September with just one loss in seven games (4-1-2). Oakland 2, Green Bay 0: Nessa Ogbonna scored her first-career goal off a Claudia Krupicz assist and Jamie Horne scored her second goal of the season as Oakland earned its first Horizon League win on the year, beating Green Bay 2-0 Saturday night. Cleveland State 1, Detroit 0: Cleveland State’ls Vickie Havas broke the CSU record for career goals with her 20th career tally to lift the Vikings over Detroit, 1-0, at Krenzler Field. CSU, which had not played since Sept. 13 after last week's match at UIC was postponed, improved to 5-4-1 overall and won its league opener. The Titans slipped to 4-5-1 overall and 1-1 in league play. After a scoreless first half, Havas netted the first and only goal of the match in the 77th minute, her fourth of the season, all of which have been game-winning goals. It was also the 20th career goal for Havas, moving her past Natalie Daniels (2007-11) and into first place on the all-time goals list in CSU history. Read more…(link)

Valparaiso 6, Youngstown State 0: Valparaiso scored six goals for the first time since 2005, downing Youngstown State, 6-0, at Farmers National Bank Field. The margin of victory was the first time the Crusaders won by six since 2005. Valparaiso's Cory Griffith scored twice while April Cronin, the team's leading scorer, posted her fifth goal of the year to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead at the 24:00 mark. Read more…(link)

Northern Kentucky 2, UIC 0: Morgan Shafer and Katelyn Newton found the back of the net to lead Northern Kentucky to a 2-0 shutout victory over Horizon League foe UIC at NKU Soccer Stadium. The win hands the Norse a 2-0 record in Horizon League play as they improve to 6-2 on the season. UIC falls to 2-7-1 overall and 0-1 in the League. Read more…(link)
