Vikings Use Strong Second Half To Earn 71-65 Victory Against Detroit-- Box Score
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Behind a strong second half push, the Cleveland State women's basketball team got back in the win column Saturday afternoon, defeating Detroit, 71-65. With the win the Vikings are now 10-6 overall this season and 2-1 in Horizon League action, while Detroit falls to 6-11 (1-3 HL). The win also improved CSU's home record to 8-1 this season.

Four of Cleveland State's five starters finished with double-digits, led by Cori Coleman who was perfect from the floor on the game. Coleman notched 19 points on a 7-for-7 performance from the field (2-for-2 from three-point) and posted six rebounds and three steals. Alexis Eckles tallied her third double-double of the season with 12 points and a career-high tying 13 rebounds, while Imani Gordon notched 18 points and eight boards, and Kiersten Green tallied 11 points.

After trailing by 13 points early on in the first half, the Vikings were able to close the stanza on a 15-5 run, going into the halftime break trailing by just one point, 30-29. Seven of Cleveland State's points during this stretch came from Gordon, who finished with a team-high nine points during the first half. Read more

Second Half Run Does In Titans At Cleveland State-- Box Score
CLEVELAND (1/17/2015) -- Senior Ellisha Crosby led four Titans in double figures, but the Cleveland State Vikings staged a second-half comeback as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team fell, 71-65, on Saturday at the Wolstein Center.

Crosby posted her seventh-straight game in double figures with a team-high 16 points. Redshirt sophomore Rosanna Reynolds and sophomore Haleigh Ristovski netted 14 apiece, while freshman Darianne Seward finished with 12.

Detroit (6-11, 1-3 HL) led by as many as 13 in the first half, but Cleveland State (10-6, 2-1 HL) was able to erase that with a 26-11 run from the end of the first and into the second. Read more

Green Bay Stifles Milwaukee to Win Fourth Straight-- Box Score
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Improving its first-place league record to 3-0 and its perfect home record to 7-0, the Green Bay women’s basketball team routed in-state rival Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon, winning 63-37 at the Kress Center.

With an entire section full of her family and friends in attendance, sophomore sharpshooter Tesha Buck exploded for a game-high 16 points, 14 of which came in the first half. Buck’s performance led the Phoenix (13-3, 3-0 HL) to its fourth-straight win overall and kept Green Bay atop the Horizon League standings.

“My teammates did a great job getting me the ball in a position to score. It’s a good win and it’s always nice to get them on our home court. We played a great game today and now we have to get ready for life on the road,” Buck said. Read more

Women Roll to 80-62 Win at Valparaiso-- Box Score
The Wright State women's basketball team closed the first half with a 13-2 run and went on to an 80-62 Horizon League victory at Valparaiso Saturday afternoon.

The game featured two ties and 11 lead changes in the opening eight minutes, with WSU finally go in front for good at 16-15 on a Courtney Boyd jumper with 12:36 remaining.  The margin was six until the Raiders went the decisive 13-2 run, eight of those points coming from the foul line, to take a 48-31 advantage into the break.

Wright State shot 44 percent from the field in the first half compared to 41 percent for the Crusaders, but the Raiders also made 16 of 17 foul shots, including the final 16 in a row, while Valparaiso was just five of 12 at the stripe. Read more

Crusader Women Fall to Raiders at Home-- Box Score
The Wright State women's basketball team assembled a half-closing 13-2 run as the Raiders claimed an 80-62 win over Valpo at the Athletics-Recreation Center Saturday afternoon.

Freshmen Dani Franklin (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/George Washington) and Jasmyn Walker (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) combined for 33 points while the latter recorded her second double-double in four games.

It stayed a tight game for much of the opening period. Eleven lead changes occurred in the first eight minutes while both teams traded baskets in an uptempo onset. Read more

Regina Miller Captures Win No. 300-- Box Score
ROCHESTER, Mich. - The UIC women's basketball team (12-5, 2-2 HL) picked up its third straight victory over Oakland (8-8, 2-1 HL) with a 75-60 road win Saturday afternoon. The victory marks head coach Regina Miller's 300th career win in 20 years of head coaching experience.

In her four seasons at UIC, Miller has won 65 games and 27 contests in Horizon League play. Miller has eight postseason appearances, 12 years of 15-plus wins and three seasons of 20-plus victories.

“While it feels good to get win 300 of my career, it feels even better to see our squad back in the win column,” said Miller. “I felt like we lost our defensive intensity in Thursday’s loss at Detroit and we regained that in today’s win. Our goal is to continue that intensity and string together multiple conference wins in a row.” Read more

Oakland Drops First League Game, 75-60, to UIC-- Box Score
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Nola Anderson scored 17 points and Sinclair Russell added 13 as the Oakland women's basketball team (8-8, 2-1 HL) dropped its first Horizon League game of the season to UIC (12-5, 2-2 HL), 75-60, Saturday afternoon at the Athletics Center O'rena.

Anderson collected her fifth-straight double-figure scoring game with three 3-pointers to lead the Golden Grizzlies. Russell tallied her fifth double-digit scoring effort of the season, while Olivia Nash added 11 points. Elena Popkey recorded nine assists, eight points and seven steals.

The Golden Grizzlies trailed by 10 at the half, but fell behind by as many as 21 in the second period, until they cut the lead to single digits with six minutes remaining. Oakland used a 14-2 run to make the score 61-53 as they hit five-straight shots from behind the arc with Anderson nailing three of the triples. The Flames would however go on to score eight unanswered points to secure the win. Read more
