Men's Soccer Secures 1-0 Shutout against San Francisco-- Box Score
CHICAGO – The UIC men’s soccer team (2-0-0) closed out its opening weekend on Sunday with a 1-0 shutout win against San Francisco (1-1-0) at Flames Field. Senior Jesus Torres scored his second goal of the season in the 22nd minute off a pass from junior Manny Chavez.
"It's always good to open your season 2-0," head coach Sean Phillips said. "With both games being in hot and humid conditions, it was going to be tough to get another result. The resiliency of this group came out again today. Jesus (Torres) came up big. He's one of the best frontrunners in the conference. Andrew (Putna) made a great save at the end of the game and patrolled his area. Most importantly though, the guys executed the defensive adjustments made at halftime which allowed us to manage the second half while creating a few dangerous opportunities." Read more

Crusaders Scrap with Wildcats for Second Straight Draw-- Box Score
The Valparaiso men’s soccer team continued its season opening road trip in North Carolina with another non-league action, double overtime scoreless draw against the Davidson Wildcats.
"It was a difficult match in a lot of ways today,” said Crusader coach Mike Avery. “First, it was very hot and very humid. Second, Davidson is a good team coming off a big Friday night victory over Cal Poly. Last, we put a lot of energy into our NC State match less than 48 hours ago, so we knew this game would really test our resolve, our concentration, our fitness, and our depth. Taking all these things into consideration, I was pleased with our performance today.” Read more
