The 2010 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships are set for Wednesday, Feb. 24 through Saturday, Feb. 27.  HLN (HorizonLeagueNetwork.tv) will air live final event coverage, featuring an interactive blog, which will provide fans with an opportunity to ask questions and make comments. Nightly recaps and a championships video wrap up will be available on the site as well.

The 2010 event will be hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Flames Natatorium as six men’s programs and eight women’s programs will battle for the annual League trophies.  The UIC men’s squad looks to defend its 2009 title while the Green Bay women hope to extend their five-year long run as the top Horizon League team.

The men’s championship should be an exciting four days of intense competition similar to last season where UIC, Wright State, Milwaukee and Cleveland State all finished within 91 points of each other.  The Flames will look for leadership from Luke Martin as he holds the conference’s top 200 IM time at 1:53.19.  The Raiders plan to score quality points in the diving events as Caleb Nettleton owns the League’s top three-meter score of 329.32. Jake Kalinowski and Nathan Welchin anchor a well-rounded Panthers squad while Mark deSwardt and Jakub Dobies gear up to pilot the Vikings.

On the women’s side, Green Bay enters the meet having won seven titles in the past 12 seasons and looks to pick up number eight in 2010.  The Phoenix will once again rely on their relays to score major points as Green Bay swept all five events last year.  2009 runner-up Milwaukee will display many talented individuals, including Kelsey George, Kerry Rossow and Danielle Wenger. Wright State and Cleveland State will look to Molley Pipkorn and Joanna Olsson, respectively, to guide their squads.
