Oakland Upends Chicago State in Home Opener, 66-40-- Box Score
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Olivia Nash tallied a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Elena Popkey and Amy Carlton each scored in double figures as Oakland defeated Chicago State, 66-40, in women's basketball action Sunday evening during the team's home opener Sunday evening. The Golden Grizzlies earn their first win of the season and move to 2-2 in its last four home-opening games.

"Anytime you can get a win you'll take it as it's important to win at home," said head coach Jeff Tungate. "We showed some signs of spurts where we played some pretty good basketball. I thought our defense in the first half was solid. Second half, the last ten minutes our intensity wasn't there on the defensive end. We didn't do a good job defending around the basket. Same thing we talked about after Central Florida, we have to make open shots, we have to make wide-open layups, wide-open jump shots if we are going to be a team that contends in this league. We just have to learn and get better and get ready for Michigan State on Wednesday." Read more

Panthers Can’t Ground Falcons In Second Half-- Box Score
MILWAUKEE - Despite a near-record defensive performance in the first half, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team could not close out a late lead against Bowling Green State University in falling, 60-50, Saturday at the Klotsche Center.

"It was very similar to the North Dakota game," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Rechlicz said. "We gave up way too many points in the second half. If a team punches and goes on a run, we have to learn how to punch back. We haven't gotten that mentality yet. Part of that is a lot of new faces, and part of that is just having the confidence that we are capable of winning these games." Read more
