After a month of non-conference action, eight of the nine Horizon League women's soccer teams begin League play on Wednesday.Three of the four matches on Wednesday will be on HLN

3 p.m. -- Cleveland State (5-4-1) at Detroit (2-4-1) | Live Stats

What to Look for: Defense. Cleveland State enters the game having shutout its last three opponents, while in 2013 Detroit didn't allow a goal in eight home games, posting eight shutout victories and outscoring opponents 22-0. In conference play, Detroit went 4-0 at home during the 2013 season.

6 p.m. -- Wright State (3-6) at Youngstown State (4-4-1) | HLN & Live Stats

What to Look for: The Raiders lead the overall series with YSU, 15-1-1, but the Penguins have protected their home pitch well this season. Youngstown State is 3-0-1 at Farmers National Bank Field in 2014 and have outscored its opponents, 10-1.

8 p.m. - UIC (1-8) at Milwaukee (3-6) | HLN & Live Stats

Assists: Five players with 1 for UIC; Morgan LaPlant, UWM (Sr., M/F) - 3

What to Look for: The Flames are in the midst of their first season as a program and they get quite the welcome to the Horizon League as their first League game will be at Milwaukee against the Panthers who have won 14 consecutive regular season HL titles. Milwaukee is 17-2-1 all-time in league openers, including an 18-2 mark in conference openers at home.

8:30 p.m. - Oakland (2-7-1) at Valparaiso (3-1-4) | HLN & Live Stats

What to Look for: Valpo enters the match on a seven-game unbeaten streak. The Crusaders only loss of the season came on opening night versus Belmont. The Bruins are the only team to score multiple goals on the Crusaders this season and Valpo has only allowed one goal in the last five games. Oakland leads the all-time series between the teams (8-4-1) and defeated the Crusaders last season, 2-0.
