Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS -- Detroit junior center Eli Holman (Richmond, Calif.) has been named Horizon League Men's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week beginning Nov. 22.
Holman averaged a double-double for the week, recording 14.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game as Detroit went 3-1, capturing the subregional championship of the Legends Classic. In all three classic games, Holman posted double-doubles, leading the Titans to wins over Albany, Bowling Green and Niagara.
Beginning the week in Starkville, Miss., Holman grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in an 82-76 loss to Mississippi State on Monday. The junior then went on his double-double binge, registering a career-high 27 points in an 84-82 double overtime win over Albany, grabbing 15 rebounds in the process.
On Saturday, Holman had 13 points and 14 rebounds to help Detroit down Bowling Green, 71-62. Holman capped a MVP performance with his third straight double-double, posting 11 points and 10 boards in 19 minutes of action in a 96-77 rout of Niagara on Sunday.
Detroit will take on Mid-American Conference foe Akron on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. ET before opening Horizon League play on Saturday, Dec. 4 when they host Wright State. Tip-off from Calihan Hall is slated for 12 p.m. ET, and both games can be seen live on HorizonLeague.com.
Top Performers for the Week:
Matt Howard, Butler (Sr., F) - Howard recorded double-doubles in back-to-back games for Butler, tallying 17 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high four steals in the Bulldogs’ 70-57 win at Siena and leading all players with 19 points and 13 rebounds against Evansville. With 1,411 career points, Howard moved into 12th on the Butler career scoring list.
Trevon Harmon, Cleveland State (Jr., G) - With 18 points at Akron, Harmon keyed Cleveland State’ 64-51 victory on Wednesday night. The junior averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals on the week, as the Vikings became just one of three teams in the country with a 7-0 record after wins over the Zips and St. Bonaventure.
Rahmon Fletcher, Green Bay (Sr., G) - Scoring a season-high 24 points on Saturday, Fletcher led Green Bay to a 71-69 win over North Dakota State, despite playing much of the game in foul trouble. The senior averaged 20.0 points on the week, moving into 12th place on Green Bay’s all-time scoring list.
Geoff McCammon, Loyola (Sr., G) - Coming off the bench for Loyola, McCammon averaged 19.5 points and 2.5 rebounds on the week, helping the Ramblers earn a 7-0 record for the first time since 1962-63 with two victories. On Saturday, at San Francisco, McCammon matched his career high, pouring in 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting from three-point rage to help Loyola post a 63-62 comeback win over the Dons.
Anthony Hill, Milwaukee (Sr., F) - Hill recorded a double-double on Tuesday, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Central Michigan. The senior helped lead the Panthers to a near-upset of Marquette on Saturday, posting 18 points and eight boards in the 75-72 defeat. Hill has been in double figures in six of seven games this season.
Zavion Neely, UIC (Jr., G) - Neely led the Flames to a 63-62 win over Toledo on Sunday, scoring a season-high 22 points to help UIC improve to 4-3 on the year. The junior set a new career high, hitting three three-pointers to help the Flames to the win.
Howard Little, Valparaiso (Sr., G) - Little earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Las Vegas Invitational, as Valpo went 2-0 in Las Vegas to win the Upper Division championship. With 18 points in the Crusaders’ 76-61 win over Northern Colorado, Little led Valpo back from a six-point halftime deficit. The senior added 13 points and eight rebounds in a 68-62 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday.
N’Gai Evans, Wright State (Sr., G) - After missing three games due to injury, Evans returned to earn All-Tournament Team honors at the Chicago Invitational Challenge, scoring a career-high 24 points in Wright State’s 71-61 loss to eventual tournament champion Richmond. The senior added 11 points in Saturday’s defeat against Southern Illinois.
Vytas Sulskis, Youngstown State (Sr., F) - Sulskis joined the 1,000-point club at Youngstown State, scoring 22 points in the Penguins’ 91-63 rout of St. Francis (Pa.) to finish with 1,004 career points. The senior averaged 21.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in two games, as Youngstown State improved to 4-1 with victories over Toledo and St. Francis.
