INDIANAPOLIS - Wright State University sophomore Hermanus Botha has been named the Horizon League Men’s Swimmer of the Week and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay sophomore Daniel Pogue has earned Men’s Diver of the Week laurels for the period of Oct. 19-25.
Botha won five of his six individual events and piloted the Raiders to three relay victories. Against Green Bay, the sophomore claimed victories in the 200-yard free (1:42.97), 100 free (46.23) and swam the second leg of the winning 200 free relay team. At University of Illinois at Chicago, the South African won the 200 free (1:42.51), the 100 free (46.21) and anchored the victorious 400 free relay squad. Against Valparaiso University, Botha touched the wall first in the 50 free in a blistering time of 21.59.
Botha is honored with his first career weekly honor and the Raiders’ first this season.
Pogue earned three first-place finishes last week in meets at Wright State and Cleveland State University. At WSU, Pogue won the three-meter competition with a score of 285.67. At CSU, the 2009 Diver of the Championships posted a 295.05 from the one-meter and 278.25 off the one-meter board.
