The Horizon League have announced Milwaukee’s Melissa Kirchoff as Women’s Runner of the Week and Oakland’s Dana Tessmer as Women’s Filed Athlete  of the Week.

Melissa Kirchoff/Milwaukee/Hurdles Jumps/Sprints/Franklin, Wis.

Kirchoff nearly posted a PR in first meet of the season, which already ranks 2nd in program history. The junior was first in the 60mH prelims with a time of 8.87, finishing 1/13 and registered a time of 8.79 in the 60mH finals, placing her first amongst eight.  Kirchoff’s 60mHtime is already second in the league this year. In addition, Mellissa also competed in the triple jump, placing 6/9 with a distance of 11.42m.

This is the first Runner of the Week honor that Kirchoff has received this season.

Dana Tessmer/Oakland/Sophomore/Field/Dexter, Mich.

Tessmer helped the Grizzlies earn a second place finish in the Jack Skoog Invitational with a first place finish in the pole vault event. The sophomore cleared 11ft, 7.75 inches and was 1st/8 in the meet amongst the three teams.

This is the first Field Athlete of the Week honor that Tessmer has received this season.
