INDIANAPOLIS—The Horizon League men’s soccer teams are wrapping up their regular season schedules over the next week and anticipate key matchups over the weekend.
On Wednesday, UIC clinched its first regular season title since 2008 with a 1-0 victory over Oakland. The Flames are 13-3-0 on the year and hold a perfect 6-0-0 League record. UIC will enter the Horizon League Men’s Soccer Championship beginning Nov. 12 as the No. 1 seed. The quarterfinal rounds will take place at the higher seeded school while UIC will host the semifinal and final rounds at Flames Field Friday, Nov. 15 and Sunday, Nov. 17.
Although the Flames have claimed the No. 1 seed, the remaining seeds for the tournament are still up for grabs. The top six teams in the League will make the tournament with the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds receiving byes to the semifinal round. The winning team of the championship automatically qualifies for the NCAA Tournament beginning Thursday, Nov. 21.
