MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Milwaukee seeks its ninth straight men’s outdoor track and field team title this weekend and the women’s team will be competing for its third in a row at the Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in Milwaukee, Wis. The championship will be held at Wisconsin Lutheran College at the Krauss-Miller-Lutz Outdoor Athletics Complex Friday-Sunday (May 4-6).
Valparaiso's Julian Smith comes into the meet as the top seed in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. Declan Murray of Loyola, who won the 800-meter title last year with a time of 1:50:16, leads the Horizon League this season with a time of 1:48.70. Milwaukee's Durell Busby currently has the 27th-fastest 110-meter hurdle time in the nation with a time of 13.90 and could break his own League record (14.40, 2011). Dan Simon leads the decathletes with 6,418 points and will look to break former teammate Drew Feuk's record of 6,532 points.
Sprinter Ciara Jarrett of Youngstown State comes into the Championship as the top seed in the 100m and 200m. UIC's mid-distance runner Ariel Kirby leads the League in both the 400m and 800m runs. For her efforts, she earned Athlete of the Week honors. Cassandra Lloyd (YSU) has the 12th-fastest time in the nation in the 100mH with a time of 13.20. Youngstown State's Kaitlyn Griffith is the top seed for both the shot put (14.14m) and hammer throw (56.15m).
