Men’s Basketball Scoreboard (Nov. 25)
Rider 74, Milwaukee 60

Milwaukee dropped its third straight game, falling 74-60 to Rider in its final game of the Hoops For Hope Classic at the Puerto Vallarta Convention Center.

The Panthers trailed by 12 at halftime and could never get closer than 10 in the second half.

Evan Richard had 11 points to lead Milwaukee (2-4), which also got 10 points apiece from Austin Arians and Demetrius Harris.

Since knocking off Davidson, 73-68, on Nov. 17, the Panthers lost all three of its games of the Hoops for Hope Classic.

Daniel Stewart and Junior Fortunat contributed 11 points apiece for the Broncos, who shot 45 percent from the floor but also owned a 17-4 edge on second-chance points and earned 37 trips to the foul line.

UWM, meanwhile, shot just 37 percent and had 15 turnovers while also getting to the line 15 times.

While Rider's pressure didn't have quite the same effect on the game Jacksonville's did a day earlier, the Broncos did speed the Panthers up just enough to have an impact on the result. UWM had only six turnovers at halftime but committed nine more in the second half as the game got away.

Rider used an efficient offensive effort to build a lead in the first half. The Broncos went up 20-11 by the midway point of the half and led 27-16 when Nurideen Lindsay converted a pair of free throws with 7:34 remaining.

Richard brought Milwaukee back to within six at 27-21 on a basket with just over six minutes left, and an Arians basket kept the Panthers within 34-27 with 3:20 left. But, Rider finished the half on a 9-4 run, carrying a 43-31 lead into the locker room.

The Broncos then eliminated any thought the Panthers had of getting back into the game with a burst to start the second half. After a basket by Richard had Milwaukee within 10 at 47-37, Rider answered with 13 of the next 14 points to build a 60-38 advantage. UWM could never cut the deficit under 15 after the remainder of the game.
