INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee junior midfielder Vienna Behnke (Neenah, Wis.) is the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Milwaukee freshman goalkeeper Paige Lincicum (Cary, Ill.) has been named Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

Needing a win to secure the regular season title, Behnke and Lincicum led the Panthers to a hard-fought, 1-0 win at Oakland on Friday night. The win clinched the Panthers’ 14-straight straight regular season crown.

Behnke scored the game’s lone goal in the 13th minute. The junior forced a turnover near the Oakland end line, beat her defender and fired a shot that beat the keeper. It was her first goal of the season.

After Behnke’s goal, the Panther’s locked down an Oakland team that had won five straight matches entering the contest. Lincicum posted five saves in shutout, her third clean sheet of the season. No save was bigger than Behnke’s third stop of the game. In the 73rd minute, Joan Sieja’s fired a shot from point-blank range but the freshman keeper came up with a remarkable save.

The win secured the number one overall seed in the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship. The Panthers host the Championship and take on the lowest remaining seed Friday, Nov. 8. Full coverage available on www.HorizonLeague.com
