INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee junior midfielder Laurie Bell (Poynton, England) and Oakland junior forward Joey Tinnion (Macomb, Mich.) are the Horizon League Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Valparaiso’s goalkeeper Tom Serratore (Tinley Park, Ill.) has earned Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept.30 – Oct. 6.

Milwaukee (9-0-1, 2-0-0) remained unbeaten with a mid-week 3-1 victory over the University of Nebraska Omaha despite trailing after the half for the first time all season. The Panthers then extended their unbeaten streak to 10 games against Wright State, defeating the Raiders 3-0. Milwaukee is just one of six teams left in the NCAA Division I without a loss.

Bell led Milwaukee offensively in the two games with a goal and game-winning assist in each, totaling six points on the week. He is currently ranked second in the Horizon League in goals and points for the undefeated Panthers.  This marks Bell’s second Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

Oakland (4-2-4, 2-0-1) defeated in-state rival Detroit in a close 2-1 matchup. After trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Golden Grizzlies battled back with two unanswered goals in the second-half to earn their second Horizon League victory.

Tinnion dominated the second-half against Detroit with two goals, scoring the game-winner in the 74th minute off of a pass from teammate Gavin Hoy. The two goals are the third and fourth for the junior forward on the season.

Valparaiso (3-3-4, 0-1-2) concluded a hard fought double overtime battle against Green Bay in a 0-0 draw. Valparaiso and Green Bay had plenty of scoring opportunities but were unable to convert during the matchup, resulting in one point for each team toward league standings.

Serratore earned his second shutout of the season and career against Green Bay making key saves throughout the match. In the 107th minute he preserved the draw with a diving save on a ball headed toward the top corner of the net. He made five total saves throughout the match.
