INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee junior Krissy Dorre (Joliet, Ill.) is the Horizon League women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Youngstown State freshman goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky (Carfield, Ohio) has been named the Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 15-21.
It is the first weekly honor of the season for Dorre and the second for Podolsky, who also won for the week of Sept. 24-30.
Dorre led the Panthers to a 2-1 win over Green Bay on Friday night, scoring both goals. Her first goal came in the eighth minute and put Milwaukee ahead 1-0, but the Phoenix answered back just 11 seconds later to tie the game. It was the fastest back-to-back scores in Panthers history, edging the 12 seconds it took Milwaukee to match Purdue Oct. 30, 2004.
Dorre scored again in the 30th minute to put Milwaukee again for good to complete the first multi-goal effort of her collegiate career and extend Milwaukee's winning streak to three games.
On Saturday, Podolsky played all but four minutes and 31 seconds of a 1-0 shutout against visiting Valparaiso. In the win, Podolsky recorded a career-high seven saves.
It was the first combined shutout of Podolsky's career.
Dorre and the Panthers return to action on Friday, closing out the regular season against the visiting Cleveland State Vikings at 8 p.m. ET. Podolsky and the Penguins, meanwhile, will travel to Detroit on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. ET matchup with the Titans.
