INDIANAPOLIS -- Milwaukee senior forward Sarah Hagen (Appleton, Wis.) has been named Horizon League Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 24-30. The award is the 15th of Hagen’s career and the fourth of the season.
No. 15 Milwaukee (16-2-0, 8-0-0 Horizon) defeated Green Bay, 7-0, to finish a perfect 8-0 in League play. The unblemished League mark is the second in three seasons for the Panthers.
Hagen netted a hat trick on senior night, posting three of the Panthers’ first four goals in the match. The three-goal effort was the first of the year for Hagen and boosted her career totals to 89 goals and 201 points. Both totals are the best in Horizon League history. With 22 goals in 2011, Hagen has the third-best total in League history, trailing her own 24-goal efforts of both 2008 and 2009.
Up next for Milwaukee is the Horizon League Tournament, which will get underway on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Hagen and the Panthers will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament, where they will host the semifinal and championship rounds on Nov. 4 and 6. All rounds from Engelmann Stadium will be available live on the Horizon League Network.
