Tournament seeds held Monday night as Northern Kentucky and Wright State advanced to the semifinals of the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Tournament. No.3 seed Northern Kentucky topped six-seeded Cleveland State, 1-0, while No. 4 Wright State held off No. 5 Valparaiso to post a 2-1 victory.

Kelsey Laumann’s header in the 58th minute lifted the Norse over Cleveland State. The win sends Northern Kentucky into the Horizon League semifinals in its first season as a member of the conference. The Norse will face second-seeded Oakland on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. ET.
With 3 saves on the match, Brooke Schocker recorded her fifth shutout of the season. Schocker climbed the ladder on a 25-yard strike from Ashley Thiss to punch the attempt over the crossbar.
In the teams’ regular-season contest, Oakland defeated Northern Kentucky, 1-0. Macy Hamblin led the Norse in shot attempts, but Alice Palmer’s goal in the 72nd minute lifted the Grizzlies to victory.
(4) Wright State 2, (5) Valparaiso 1
MacKenzie Hamilton scored two goals in Wright State’s 2-1 victory over Valparaiso. Hamilton’s first was struck across the face of goal from 25 yards out, curling into the upper-right corner to lift WSU ahead in the 34th minute.
Midway through the second half, Hamilton struck again, this time sending a cross to the short-side left corner to net the eventual game-winning goal.
The Raiders defense railed to hold onto their lead after a late goal by the Crusaders in the 88th minute.
With the win, Wright State will face No. 1 seed and tournament host Milwaukee on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. During the regular season, Milwaukee defeated Wright State 1-0, with a goal in the first half. The Raiders outshot Milwaukee 11-7 but could not find the net as Paige Lincicum turned in the shutout for the Panthers.
