Oakland Captures First Horizon League Women's Soccer Crown

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Sarah Reynolds' golden goal six minutes in the first overtime sent Oakland to a 1-0 victory in the Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship. The Golden Grizzlies earned the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with the victory.

Joan Sieja's first corner kick of the night was sent into the box, where Reynolds was able to get her right foot on the ball and guide it to the right side of the net. The goal was Reynolds' first since 2013; for Sieja, it capped a tournament in which she was named tournament most valuable player.

Oakland goalkeeper Emily Zweng turned aside all five Wright State shots on goal, turning in two clean sheets in two tournament matches. Zweng's effort was especially needed in the second half, as the Raiders put three shots on frame that required the freshman to make sprawling saves.

The women's soccer championship was the first for Oakland as a member of the Horizon League. The Golden Grizzlies have won the first three championships of the fall season, with men's and women's cross country in addition to tonight's title.

Sieja, Zweng and Reynolds were joined on the All-Tournament Team by Jamie Horne, whose penalty kick on Thursday night sent the Golden Grizzlies into the championship.

Ashley Gogolin, Niki Romero and Aaliyah Patten represented Wright State on the team. The Raiders finished as tournament runners-up for the third time in the last five seasons.

Oakland will learn its NCAA Tournament destination on Monday, Nov. 9, at 4:30 p.m. ET. NCAA.com will carry the selection show live.
