The Oakland softball team will face No. 3 Michigan in the Ann Arbor regional of the 2015 NCAA Division I Softball Championship on Friday, May 15 at Alumni Field inside the Donald R. Shepard Softball Center. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU. California (38-16) and Pittsburgh (35-20) round out the four schools in the regional.

Oakland won its first Horizon League Championship with a 7-3 win over Wright State on Saturday earning a sport in the NCAA Tournament. No 3 Michigan (51-6) won the Big Ten regular season and tournament. The Wolverines lead the all-time series against Oakland 3-0 while Pittsburgh won the only meeting against the Golden Grizzlies. California and Oakland faced each other in the 2003 NCAA Regional also held in Ann Arbor when the then No. 9 Golden Bears secured an 8-0 victory.

Oakland has a 2-4 all-time NCAA Tournament record and this marks the third time being placed in the Ann Arbor Regional. In 2002, the Golden Grizzlies compiled a 1-2 record defeating Canisus, while falling to Washington and Central Michigan. The following season in 2003, Oakland secured a win over Western Michigan before losing to Notre Dame in addition to California.
