Oakland's Corey Petros was named to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) Team, announced by BCAM on Monday afternoon. To be eligible, players have to be either a starter or an important reserve, must have reached sophomore standing, have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games, and have at least a 3.0 grade point average. The BCAM teams are selected on the basis of academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, grade point average and their coach's BCAM membership.
Petros, a senior from Macomb, Mich., earned his masters degree in business administration (MBA) last semester, posting a cumulative GPA of 3.45. He was named to the Academic All-Horizon League team for the second straight season after leading the league in rebounds (8.2) and field goal percentage (.602/10th in NCAA). Petros was named All-Horizon League for the second consecutive season and broke the all-time school record with 409 offensive rebounds.
The BCAM recognizes five student-athletes across NCAA Division I, II and II, and NAIA levels in the state of Michigan.
