Valparaiso University men’s basketball assistant coach Roger Powell, Jr. will serve as head coach for an Athletes in Action team that will tour Poland this June. Powell will lead a 10-player team on the tour, a squad which includes Crusaders Jubril Adekoya and Max Joseph.
“AIA gives coaches an unbelievable opportunity to merge sports and faith together at the highest level for college sports, to be able to see young men be all that they can be through basketball and faith,” said Coach Powell. “I am privileged to be the coach of an AIA tour for a second time.”
The team will depart June 3 and begin a training camp in Bialystok, Poland on June 4. The AIA team will play five games, taking on Rosa Radom (a professional team), AWF University, the U20 Belarus National Team, and two games against the U20 Poland National Team.The goals of this tour are to provide a rich cross-cultural experience for each team member and for team members to grow in their personal faith. Athletes In Action is a Christian sports organization. AIA will provide social media coverage throughout the tour, including a blog.
