YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (2/25/2017) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team used a strong second-half effort, scoring 31 points in the fourth quarter Saturday afternoon to pull away from Youngstown State and win on the road in its regular-season finale, 83-67. It was the second win over the Penguins this season.
With the victory, the Titans (16-13, 12-6 HL) clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming 2017 Motor City Madness tournament at Joe Louis Arena. Detroit Mercy is set to play Sunday, March 5 at noon against sixth-seeded Cleveland State (14-15, 9-9 HL).

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Taylor Jones connected on five 3-pointers and shot 10-for-20 from the field to score 26 points and lead Oakland over Cleveland State, 93-79, at the Wolstein Center on Saturday. Jones also recorded seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Leah Somerfield tied her season-high in points (25) and rebounds (12), and went 10-for-12 from the free throw line. Taylor Gleason shot 8-for-15 from the field and finished with 21 points to round out the trio of Oakland players who surpassed the 20-point mark in the victory.

UIC 63, Valparaiso 72
The Valparaiso University women’s basketball team ended the regular season on a positive note for the second consecutive year, defeating UIC 72-63 on Saturday afternoon at the Athletics-Recreation Center. In the process, the Crusaders latched down the No. 9 seed in the Horizon League Tournament and a date with No. 8 Youngstown State in the first round.
