INDIANAPOLIS –No. 15/12 Green Bay has clinched the 2011 Horizon League title, but seeds are still up for grabs leading into the final week of the Horizon League regular season. Four games are scheduled for Thursday and the final five will take place on Saturday.
The Phoenix (27-1, 16-0) open the week at Wright State for a 7pm ET contest before finishing off the season with a 2pm trip to Detroit on Saturday. Green Bay is on an 18-game winning streak, the fourth longest on program history, and is on track to finish the 2011 season undefeated in the conference.
Green Bay has only lost one game this season, which has earned the Phoenix its highest ranking in program history in both the ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches Poll (No. 12) and AP poll (No. 15) this week.
The Raiders are 17-10 overall and tied for third place in the league with Cleveland State at 10-6, just one-half game behind second place Butler (11-6). They are also just one game ahead of fifth place UIC (9-7).
Wright State split a pair of road games last week in Chicago, defeating Loyola (77-66) but falling to the Flames (77-60), while Green Bay swept through the Indiana schools defeating Valparaiso (75-48) and Butler (93-57).
The Vikings will look to continue their five game winning streak as they close out the regular season at home hosting Loyola on Thursday at 7pm and UIC on Saturday at 2pm.
Cleveland State downed its travel partner Youngstown State (76-71) in its only contest last week, while Loyola lost two at home, falling to Wright State and Detroit (71-62).
The Ramblers (11-16, 5-11) are on a five-game losing streak but are still in position to host a first round game, sitting eighth in the standings
Milwaukee (11-16, 8-8), which remains sixth in the conference, will travel to seventh-place Detroit (12-15, 6-10) for a 7pm ET contest on Thursday and then head to Wright State on Saturday at 2pm.
The Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak with two home wins last week over Butler (73-66) and Valpo (70-69), while the Titans are coming off of another 1-1 week, falling at UIC (53-40) but picking up a win in Loyola.
Youngstown State (4-23, 2-14) will open the week hosting UIC on Thursday at 7pm ET before finishing up the season hosting Loyola on Saturday at 1:05pm.
On Saturday, second-seeded Butler (17-12, 11-6) will close out the regular season at Valparaiso (7-22, 4-13) in its only contest of the week. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:35pm ET.
