INDIANAPOLIS -- The National Association on Basketball Coaches on Tuesday unvieled its All-District selections for the 2012-13 season, naming seven Horizon League men's basketball players to the District 12 First and Second Teams.
The conference featured by three First Team honorees, led by Valparaiso senior Ryan Broekhoff, who led the Crusaders to a Horizon League tournament title and berth in the NCAA Tournament while averaging 15.7 points per game, fourth-highest in the Horizon League. The Aussie also averaged 7.3 rebounds per game, ranking second, and was tied for third with a 41.7 3-point percentage while leading the conference with an 88.1 free throw percentage. Broekhoff was a First Team All-Horizon League honoree for the second year in a row.
Horizon League Player of the Year and Detroit senior Ray McCallum was also named First Team All-District. McCallum led the Horizon League in scoring (18.7 ppg) and tied for first in steals (1.9 spg) while finishing second in assists (4.5 apg) and sixth in field goal percentage (49.1). He was the first player to earn both Preseason Player of the Year and Player of the Year honors in the Horizon League since the 2000-01 season.
Youngstown State junior Kendrick Perry was the Horizon League's third First Team All-District selection. Despite battling injuries near the end of the season, Perry ranked second in the conference in scoring (17.3 ppg) and sixth in assists (4.1 apg) while tying McCallum for the League-lead in steals (1.9 spg). Perry finished fifth in field goal percentage (84.5) and was a First Team All-Horizon League honoree for the second consecutive season.
Rounding out the District 12 First Team were Nate Wolters of South Dakota State and Travis Bader of Oakland.
The Horizon League nearly swept the Second Team, taking four spots as Western Illinois' Terrell Parks was the only honoree from a different conference.

Sykes finished third in scoring (15.9 ppg, fourth in assists (4.3 apg) and eighth in free throw percentage (81.5) to earn First Team All-Horizon League honors. Detroit senior Nick Minnerath quietly put together an impressive season, deferring to the star power of McCallum and the high-flying antics of fellow senior Doug Anderson while finishing seventh in both scoring (14.6 ppg) and rebounding (5.9 rbg). Minnerath earned First Team All-Horizon League honors this season.
Rounding out the Second Team is Valpo senior Kevin Van Wijk. The native of the Netherlands led the Horizon League with a 63.3 field goal percentage and finished in a three-way tie for eighth in rebounding (5.5 rpg). Van Wijk was also a Second Team All-Horizon League honoree.
