INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State’s Alice Sommerville has been named the Horizon League Women’s Swimmer of the week and Milwaukee’s Kelsey George has earned Women’s Diver of the Week honors for the period of Oct. 11-17.

Sommerville, a sophomore from Methven, New Zealand took first-place in four events at Cleveland State’s season opener on Friday. Her individual wins came in the 50 yard Freestyle (23.59) and 100 yard Fly where she beat her own school record with a time of 55.75. She also took part in the 200 yard Free Relay (1:37.29) and was a member of the 200 yard Medley Relay record breaking team, finishing in a time of 1:47.82.

George, a senior from Middleton, Wis. and back-to-back Diver of the Week, earned NCAA zone-qualifying scores in both the 1 and 2 meter dives on Friday. She took first-place in the 3-meter dive, earning 297.23 points and took third-place in the 1-meter dive earning 275.55 points.

Cleveland State returns to action on Friday, (Oct. 22) traveling to Valparaiso for a 2pm (EST) meet and then heads to Green Bay Saturday (Oct. 23) with competition beginning at noon. Milwaukee will travel to Boston College on Friday for a 4pm (EST) start.
