Green Bay 2, Western Illinois 1
Registering back-to-back road victories, the Green Bay women’s soccer team defeated Western Illinois 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to improve its record to 6-2-2 on the season.

The win for the Phoenix runs its undefeated streak to four games, which also saw junior Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) net her team and league-leading 10th goal of the season. Hartmann was able to tie the game in the 15th minute, less than five minutes after Western Illinois went up 1-0.

Hartmann finished a beautiful header in front of goal after senior Elise Olson (Madison, Wis.) connected on a perfect pass into the box. Hartmann’s 10 goals this season are the most by any player since 2006.

Karina Fredette (Gatineau, Quebec) would tally her first career game-winning goal in the 78th minute, after WIU gifted one to the Phoenix by mishandling a pass back to its own keeper. It’s Fredette’s second goal of the year, while the Green Bay defense was able to keep the Leathernecks out of goal the rest of the way.

The Phoenix put six shots on goal with WIU registering five. Green Bay held the edge on corner kicks 5-4.

After the game’s two-goal performance, Green Bay has now outscored its opponents 23-8 in 2014.

Oakland 4, St. Francis (Pa.) 1
Four second half goals from Kyla Kellermann, Cecile Dokka, Alice Palmer and Claudia Krupicz sparked Oakland (2-7-1) to a 4-1 come from behind victory at St. Francis (0-9-1) Sunday afternoon at the Stokes Soccer complex. Dokka's game-winning goal was the first of her career with Palmer also adding two assists. Stephanie Bukovec recorded her first career win in goal to lead the Golden Grizzles defensively.

"I am very happy with the result," said head coach Margaret Saurin. "We had a slow start and were chasing the game for about 25 minutes but made some changes at the half which enabled us to be very good in the second half. Hats off to our subs that helped us create a ton of chances and moved the ball well at times. Our back line and keeper were solid in the second half keeping their forwards at bay. It was an important win for us because we are heading into conference play on Wednesday feeling confident that we can battle with any team and win tough games. We have played in tough environments on the road and have become a much stronger team because of it."

After trailing 1-0 at the half, Oakland fired 14 of its 19 shots in the second half igniting an offensive explosion beginning with Kellermann's game-tying goal in the 57th minute. On a corner kick set piece, St. Francis cleared Palmer's service but she was able to recover the ball and send it back into the box where Kellerman put home a header from five yards out past Romina Kunze.

Four minutes later, Palmer played a cross from the right side through traffic to Dokka who scored on a left-footed shot from 14 yards out giving the Golden Grizzlies a 2-1 lead.

In the 71st minute, Palmer took a long service from Aly Rawson and moved the ball out to Kendra Prince who hit a bouncing ball back over to Palmer. She in turn beat a defender and fired a shot past Kunze from 10 yards out.

Krupicz corralled a failed clear by a St. Francis defender and fired a shot from the left side which hit the post and bounced into the left corner of the net past Kunze who was out of position to seal the Golden Grizzlies 4-1 win.

Wright State 1, Morehead State 0
A goal by Sarah Colvin early in the second half gave the women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Morehead State Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field, their second shutout win of the weekend.

Both teams had opportunities in the first half as the Raiders attempted four shots and the Eagles three, but the match remained scoreless.

Colvin, though, changed that at the 47:04 mark of the second half with her first collegiate goal on a shot from the right side of the box.  Addie Englehart and Natalie Sedlock were each credited with an assist, the first assist of the season for each.

WSU held on the rest of the way as junior goalkeeper Halle Pyle recorded the shutout.  Pyle finished with three saves.

Eastern Michigan 4, UIC 2
The UIC women’s soccer team (1-8-0) dropped a 4-2 decision on Sunday against Eastern Michigan (4-2-1) at Flames Field. Freshman Emily Wauer earned the first goal of her collegiate career while sophomore Jasmin Carrera earned her fourth goal on the season.

Wauer’s goal was the first of the match, coming at the 17:08 mark. She dribbled into the net from the right side with freshman Haley Kittle clinching the assist. Eastern Michigan responded with three unanswered goals within five minutes and went into the half leading 3-1.

The first goal for the Eagles came off the boot of senior Molli Krick at the 31:42 mark at the top of the 18 yard box with senior Bianca Rossi on the assist. Ellie Tillar was the next Eagle to score at the 33:38 mark off a pass from senior Marisa Kozikowski on the left side.

Senior Emily Dzik tallied the third goal for Eastern Michigan and her second of the season at the 36:15 mark with Krick on the assist to earn her third point of the day. UIC fought back to bring themselves within one at the 76:44 mark when Carrera took a pass from freshman Sydney Wright on the left side and sank the ball into the center of the net.

The Eagles sealed the deal at the 81:42 mark with an insurance goal on a header by redshirt junior Halle Kansman with sophomore Madison Hirsch taking the assist. Eastern Michigan finished the afternoon out-shooting the Flames 15-11.

Freshman Annie DiCanio played her first complete game between the posts and made three saves. Junior tender Megan McCabe got the win for the Eagles while also saving three.
