UIC was plagued by turnovers all night and could never get into offensive rhythm in a 71-59 loss to Toledo at Savage Arena in Toledo, Oh.

The Flames committed a season high 32 turnovers which led to 31 Rocket points.

UIC held a 16-12 lead after the first quarter on the strength of three 3-pointers.  The Flames made their first four three-point tries but cooled off after that, missing their final seven.  Toledo scored the first 14 points of the second quarter on a run capped by Mikaela Boyd's three-pointer, layup, and three point play.  The Flames did get within nine points at halftime with Melita Emanuel-Carr logging 13 points in the half.

Terri Bender had two steals in the contest to give her 224 for her career, moving into a tie for 5th place on UIC's all-time list.

Toledo opened the second half on a 10-0 run to balloon their lead to 19 and led by as many as 31.  Three Rockets scored in double figures, led by Boyd's 16.

Emanuel-Carr paced the Flames with 15 points before fouling out early in the fourth quarter.  Taylor Toney and Laura Litchfield each scored career highs with 12 and 10 respectively.  Each of the three shot over 50% from the floor, but the rest of the squad managed to hit just five of 27 shots.

Tyra Carlsten-Handberg grabbed a game- and season-high 7 rebounds, but the Flames were overall unable to exploit their size advantage in the frontcourt, getting outrebounded 43-34.

The Flames will conclude their road trip Saturday afternoon against Central Michigan.
