INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC senior Ruvanna Campbell (Chicago, Ill.) is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Oakland’s Taylor Jones (Detroit, Mich.) is the Freshman of the Week for the week of Feb. 8-14.

UIC split the week’s contests while taking the road to Michigan to face Oakland and Detroit. On Thursday, the Flames defeated the Titans after trailing at halftime 31-28. UIC took over in the remaining quarters shooting 45.2 percent from the field and 80 percent beyond the arc to outscore Detroit 37-20 en route to the team’s 65-51 victory. The Flames fell to Oakland on Saturday 78-73 after the Golden Grizzlies got off to a quick start in the ball game as the two tames battled back-and-forth the entire 40 minutes in a game of runs.

Campbell led the way for UIC on the court as she posted two double-doubles while shooting 26-of-44 (.519) from the floor with averages of 29 ppg, 15 rpg, 2.5 spg and 1.5 bpg. The senior provided the offensive spark at Detroit with her 26 point and 11 rebound performance in the win. Campbell then posted a career-high of 32 points along with 19 rebounds at Oakland.

In addition to its home win over UIC, Oakland hosted Valparaiso on Sunday night and won 87-77. The team posted four players in double figures as the squad shot 45.2 percent from the field for the contest. The Golden Grizzlies led for over 39 minutes of the game and were up by as many as 21 points in the second quarter.

Jones scored 20 points and tied a career-high of five steals against Valparaiso to kick-off her week. The freshman continued to be a key contributor to the Golden Grizzlies’ offense as she tallied 18 points while going 4-for-6 from the field in the win over UIC. For the week, Jones averaged 17 ppg, 2 rpg, 3 spg and 1 bpg.

UIC and Oakland play again on Thursday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. ET with the Flames hosting Green Bay and the Golden Grizzlies at Wright State. Oakland then heads south to face Northern Kentucky at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 20 while UIC welcomes Milwaukee to the UIC Pavilion for a 3:00 p.m. ET matchup that afternoon.

Top Players of the Week:
Brianne Cohen, Detroit (So., F): Scored a career-high of 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds with four blocks versus Valparaiso. For the week, averaged 19 ppg, 8 rpg and 2.5 bpg.
Kim Demmings, Wright State (Sr., G): Recorded 28 points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist in win over Northern Kentucky.
Dani Franklin, Valparaiso (So., G): Tied a career-high in points with 25 on Thursday and set a season-high in field goals with nine. Averaged 17.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 1.5 spg this week for the Crusaders.
Jenny Lindner, Milwaukee (So., G): Led Milwaukee in scoring both games with 17 points and 14 rebounds in overtime win over Cleveland State and 23 points versus Youngstown State.
Jessica Lindstrom, Green Bay (So., F): Set a new career-high with 17 rebounds against Youngstown State and tallied her fifth double-double of the year versus Cleveland State.
Olivia Nash, Oakland (Sr., F): Scored a game-high 25 points with five rebounds while going 9-for-16 from the field in the win over Valparaiso. In addition, scored a team-best 18 points and nine rebounds with a career-high four steals versus UIC.
Christine Roush, Northern Kentucky (Sr., G): Led the Norse in scoring against Wright State with 22 points while making a season-high of six three-pointers.
Olivia Voskuhl, Cleveland State (So., F): Notched back-to-back double digit games with 16 points at Milwaukee and 11 points at Green Bay. In addition, averaged 8.0 rpg and was just shy of a double-double in both contests.

Top Freshmen of the Week:
Ashanti Abshaw, Cleveland State (Fr., F): Pegged her seventh double-double of the year with 20 points and tied a career-high of 17 rebounds. Abshaw has now posted six 20-point contests this season.
Brittney Jackson, Detroit (Fr., G): Tied a career-high with 12 points and hitting four triples in victory over Valparaiso. Shot 54 percent from three-point range for the week while averaging 9.0 ppg.
Amber Lindfors, Valparaiso (Fr., G): Moved into third all-time for blocks in a season with 50 while averaging 2.0 bpg this past week.
Alison Smolinski, Youngstown State (Fr., G): Posted her highest-scoring Horizon League game with 13 points at Milwaukee while making four triples in 20 minutes.
Emily Vogelpohl, Wright State (Fr., G): Tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists in the win over Northern Kentucky.
