INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC’s Matt Zaluckyj (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and Milwaukee’s Nick Hughes (Milwaukee, Wis.) have been named the Horizon League Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of April 9 - April 15.

Zaluckyj competed at the Benedictine Eagle Invitational in the 800-meter run. He finished with a time of 1:49.51 for first place out of 25 competitors. The senior broke the 1:50 standard in the race for the first time in his career. The time is a Horizon League best and helped the Flames capture the team title with 110.5 points out of 21 teams.

Hughes, a sophomore for the Panthers, competed in the high jump at the Pacesetter Quadrangular. His jump of 6-10.75 (2.10m) earned him first place in the competition and the height is now second in school history. It is also the 56th-best jump in the country.

UIC will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at the DePauw Invitational in Chicago, Ill.  Milwaukee will travel to Lawrence, Kan. for the Kansas Relays this weekend with the action starting on Thursday (April 19) and ending on Saturday.
