INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso junior forward Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington) has been named Horizon League Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, while UIC freshman guard Dikembe Dixson (Freeport, Ill./Mingo Central [W. Va.]) has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week.

Peters claimed his second Horizon League Player of the Week honor of his career after tying his career high rebounds against Oakland and moving into the top-10 in Valparaiso history in career points during Sunday’s victory over Detroit.

The junior averaged 21.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game this week as the Crusaders went 3-0 to move to 14-2 in Horizon League play this year, clinching the regular-season title and the Little Caesars Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship number one seed. He led Valparaiso with 15 points and had 10 rebounds on Tuesday in a win over Cleveland State. In Valparaiso’s two point victory over Oakland on Friday, he came back with 16 points and 14 rebounds including the game-clinching basket. On Sunday he scored 32 points with 11 rebounds in the clinching win over Detroit.

Valparaiso (25-5, 14-2) closes out the regular season in Wisconsin, traveling to Milwaukee (17-11, 8-7) on Friday and Green Bay (17-11, 9-6) on Sunday. Friday’s game will be at 7pm ET on ESPN2, while Sunday’s finale will be carried on ESPN3 at 3pm ET.

Dixson was honored with his eighth Freshman of the Week honor this season after scoring a career-high 40 points along with grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds against Youngstown State. On Sunday, the freshman set the Horizon League freshman scoring record, breaking the old mark of 501. Averaging 30.0 points and 9.3 rebounds in UIC’s three games last week, Dixson’s new record sits at 525 points.

UIC plays their final two games on the regular season on the road, taking on Green Bay on Friday and Milwaukee on Sunday. Friday’s game will be carried on ESPN3, while the American Sports Network will air Sunday’s game.

Top Performers for the Week:
Carrington Love, Green Bay
(Sr., G) - Love scored a career-high 39 points on Saturday against Youngstown State (14 FGM, 27 FGA, 8 3FG and 20 FGA were also all career highs). His performance is the second highest scoring game in Resch Center history, sixth highest in program history.
Paris Bass, Detroit (So., F) - Bass tied his career high for the third time with 28 points at Valparaiso, adding seven boards and four steals. For the week, Bass scored 22 points or more in all three games with two double-doubles.
Kay Felder, Oakland (Jr., G) - Felder averaged 20.3 points, 10.0 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game in three games last week. He collected a pair of double-doubles last week, including 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in the win over UIC on Sunday.
Demonte Flannigan, Cleveland State (Jr., F) - Flannigan posted his fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds at Milwaukee. He averaged 10.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in CSU’s two games.
Cameron Morse, Youngstown State (So., G) - Morse averaged 24 points per game last week and posted games of 28 and 20 points against UIC and Green Bay, respectively. Morse has scored at least 20 points 14 times this season, including 11 times against Horizon League opponents. Against Green Bay, Morse tied a career high with eight assists. He leads the Horizon League in scoring with 24.1 points per game in league games.
Matt Tiby, Milwaukee (Sr., F) - Tiby led the team for the week, averaging 15.5 points per game and 6.0 rebounds, shooting 60 percent from the floor. In the win over Cleveland State, he went for 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists in just 20 minutes of playing time.
Tyler White, Northern Kentucky (Sr., G) - White tallied 21 points to help Northern Kentucky come back from a 13 point deficit at Wright State with a personal 7-1 run late in the game. He now has six 20-point games on the season.

Top Freshmen for the Week:
Jordan Andrews, Youngstown State (Fr., G) - Andrews scored a career-high 19 points with a career-best six 3-pointers against Green Bay. He also scored 10 points against UIC for an average of 14.5 points per game. Andrews also tied the YSU single-season record for most 3-pointers made by a freshman with 46.
Drew McDonald, Northern Kentucky (Fr., F) - McDonald notched his fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 boards against Detroit. He averaged 12 points, 7.5 boards and 2.5 assists per game last week.
Rob Edwards, Cleveland State (Fr., G) - Edwards averaged 14.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in Cleveland State’s two games. He scored 18 points, hitting four three pointers at Milwaukee.
