INDIANAPOLIS -- Valparaiso freshman Peter Webb (Madison, Wis.) has been named Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Valparaiso senior Michelle Kleckner (New Brighton, Minn.), has been named Horizon League Women’s Golfer of the Week for Sept. 1-11.

Webb made an impressive debut at the Battle of the Tetons in Victor, Idaho. The freshman led the team with scores of 72-71-71 (214, -2), good for third place overall. The 54-hole total of 2-under-par is just the third time a Crusader golfer has gone under par at a 54-hole tournament since the program’s revival in 2010. Webb picked up where he left off at this week’s Golfweek Program Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C., again tying for third place. The freshman fired rounds of 67-67-76 (211, -5).

Kleckner started off her season setting the 54-hole Crusader program record shooting rounds of 77-74-74 (225, +12) at the Golfweek Program Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The impressive total bettered the previous Crusader record by three shots.

The Crusader men tee it up next on Sept. 16 at the John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio; while the women have the next week off before traveling to the SUIE DoubleTree Invitational in Edwardsville, Ill. on Sept. 23.
