CLEVELAND - In Game 4 of the 2010 Horizon League Softball Championship, No. 2 Wright State (27-27-1) claimed victory over No. 6 Butler (36-18) by a final score of 11-9, just missing the championship record for combined runs of 21.  WSU advances to Game 7 where they will play No. 1 Cleveland State.

Butler jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead within the first two innings, taking advantage of four Wright State errors and connecting on four hits.

Wright State owned the third inning, racking up four runs on four hits.  Junior Justine Shilt recorded the tournament’s first triple, driving in teammate China Frost for the Raider’s first run.  On the very next play WSU outfielder Jamie Perkins sent Shilt home on a single to left field.  Perkins then cashed in on a run of her own as Mollie Berry reached third base on a fielding error.  Sophomore Katie Kine continued the Raider onslaught as she drove in Berry with a single to right field, brining the score to a 7-4 Butler edge.

Wright State carried that momentum into the fourth inning, as it was their turn to take advantage of four Butler errors.  The Raiders notched seven runs on five hits, claiming the lead, 11-7.

Butler answered right back with a two-run jack to left field by senior Annie Dolan, closing the gap, 11-9, which proved to be the final tally.

Action begins again on Friday morning with No. 3 UIC vs. No. 4 Valparaiso at 10 a.m. ET.  Game 6 features No. 5 Green Bay vs. No. 6 Butler, which is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. ET.
