The Wright State softball team is headed to Ann Arbor for the NCAA Regionals and will take on #1 seed Michigan in the opening game on Friday at 7:00 at the Wilpon Softball Complex.

The Wolverines (46-6) are hosting a regional for the ninth straight season and this will be the third time that the Raiders have competed there. WSU lost to Michigan and DePaul while defeating Missouri in 2003 and fell again to the Wolverines and Kent State in 2008.

Wright State (30-28-1) and Michigan are joined by regional No. 2 seed Notre Dame (45-10) and No. 3 seed Illinois State (32-18) in the double-elimination event. The Fighting Irish and Redbirds open the tournament Friday at 4:30, followed by the Wright State-Michigan contest. The tournament winner earns the right to advance to the NCAA Super Regional the following weekend (May 28-29).

Both Notre Dame and Illinois State are familiar foes to Wright State at the NCAA Regionals as the three teams all competed at the Evanston Regional in 2007, hosted by Northwestern. In that tournament, the Raiders were eliminated by the Irish 3-0 after falling to Northwestern 4-1 in the opening round.

Tickets for the regional tournament are priced at $10 for reserved chairback and $9 for reserved bleacher seats. General admission outfield bleacher tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors. Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting Wednesday (May 19) at 8:30 a.m. and may be purchased online at mgoblue.com/tickets, by phone (734-764-0247 or 1-866-296-6849) or in person at the Michigan Ticket Office (1000 S. State St.). All tickets must be picked up in person, starting Thursday (May 20) at the Michigan Ticket Office. Ticket will call on game days will be located near the Wilpon Complex scoreboard at the entrance gate near the U-M Indoor Track Building.

The winner of the regional in Ann Arbor will move on to a Super Regional against the winner of the regional being hosted by Tennessee in Knoxville. That regional consists of No. 15 overall seed Tennessee, Louisville, Virginia and Ball State. The Super Regional is a best two-of-three format with the winner advancing to the eight-team Women's College World Series, scheduled for June 3-9 in Oklahoma City.
