INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State senior Tay’ler Mingo (Akron, Ohio) is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Milwaukee’s Steph Kostowicz (Franklin, Wis.) is the Freshman of the Week for the week of March 2-8.
Wright State (23-7, 12-4) closed out the regular season with two wins at the Nutter Center this past week. On Wednesday, the Raiders hosted UIC and defeated the Flames 74-54. Wright State dominated the first half of the contest after racing out to a 44-15 lead en route to the victory. Wright State kept the momentum through the weekend as the Raiders defeated Milwaukee on senior day, 91-73. The Raiders relied on the second half in this matchup to pull away from the Panthers led by a combined 75 points from their senior class.
Mingo led Wright State in the two games averaging per game 25.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals. The senior went 9-for-16 from the field and 8-of-13 from the charity stripe versus UIC to tab 27 points. Mingo also grabbed six rebounds during the contests in addition to her four assists and three steals. On Saturday against Milwaukee, Mingo hit 20-plus points in the contest as she compiled 24 points, 16 of which came during the second half. Against the Panthers she also tallied seven rebounds, six assists and one steal.
Milwaukee (9-19, 5-11) competed in two touch matchups this past week against Detroit at home and at Wright State. The Panthers lost by a narrow margin of 60-56 to the Titans on Wednesday and could not withstand the second half surge by the Raiders on Saturday and fell 91-73.
Kostowicz worked her way into the starting lineup and averaged a double-double over the week for the Panthers. The freshman posted her first career double-double versus Detroit tabbing season-highs of 18 points and 13 rebounds. Over the two contests, Kostowicz averaged 14.0 points per game, 10.5 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game.
Milwaukee hosts Valparaiso tonight in the first round of the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Tournament with tip-off set for 8:00 p.m. ET to be streamed on ESPN3. The Raiders welcome Oakland on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET in the tournament semifinals.
Top Players of the Week:
Nola Anderson, Oakland (So., G): Led the team in scoring in the regular season finale against Wright State with 15 points while also garnering 6 rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Ruvanna Campbell, UIC (Jr., F): Scored 21 points and grabbed 16 rebounds against Wright State and slated her fourth-straight double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds at Cleveland State.
Imani Gordon, Cleveland State (Sr., F): Notched her eighth 20-point game against Youngstown State with 25 points while going 11-for-18 from the field. On senior day hosting UIC, she scored 13 points to help Cleveland State clinch the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
Sydney Howard, Milwaukee (Jr., G): Paced Milwaukee through the week with 14.5 points per game and 2.5 rpg while setting a career-high with 17 points versus Detroit.
Rosanna Reynolds, Detroit (So., G): Posted her sixth 20-point contest with 20 points against Milwaukee and followed-up with 10 points versus League-leading Green Bay on Saturday.
Heidi Schlegel, Youngstown State (Sr., F): Scored 18 points on 8-for-13 shooting in addition to her eight rebounds at Cleveland State. Posted a game-high of 26 points on senior day against Valparaiso after going 14-of-16 from the charity stripe to tie a career-high for made free-throws in a contest.

Indiya Benjamin, Youngstown State (G): Averaged 8.5 points and 5.5 assists for the Penguins this past week. Scored 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting and dished out five assists against Valparaiso and netted five points versus Cleveland State.
Dani Franklin, Valparaiso (G): Scored 22 points versus Oakland and led the Crusaders against Youngstown State with 15 points.
Nicole Urbanick, Detroit (G): Averaged 10 points and 5.5 rebounds over two contests for Detroit while tying her season-high in points with 17 against Green Bay.
