INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State’s Michael Davis (Vienna, Ohio) and Loyola’s James McLachlan (Wymondham, England) have been named the Horizon League Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 23 - Jan. 29.
Davis, a junior sprinter for the Penguins, competed at the YSU Invitational this past weekend and took first and second place in the 60m dash and 200m dash, respectively. In the 60m dash, he clocked a 6.98 and ran a 22.30 in the 200m. He is in the top-three in the Horizon League in both events.
McLachlan competed in the long jump for the Ramblers at the Tadd Metzger Invite and had a 25-4.00 (7.72m) leap to set a new school record. The previous record (24-8.00) was set back in 1969 and was held for 43 years by Sid Mordaunt. The mark is a personal best for McLachlan and is currently the sixth-best jump in the nation.
