Women's Basketball - Youngstown State @ Valparaiso Highlights

Valparaiso overcame a five-point deficit in the final two minutes to earn a hard-fought 77-75 victory in a back-and-forth game with Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio Saturday evening.

Wright State led by just one at the half, but shot 63 percent in the second half as the Raiders recorded a 67-54 win over the Green Bay Phoenix in Horizon League action at the Nutter Center Saturday night.

Ricky Franklin scored 16 points to lead three players in double figures as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee captured a key 71-60 win over Detroit Saturday afternoon at Calihan Hall.

Senior Melanie Thornton had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead a balanced Butler attack as the BU women’s basketball team defeated Cleveland State, 72-66, Saturday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The game was BU’s WBCA Pink Zone breast cancer awareness game, played in front of a season-high crowd of 1,662.

Matt Howard scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Gordon Hayward added 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead visiting Butler to a 70-59 victory over Cleveland State in a match-up of the Horizon League’s top two teams on Saturday, Feb. 13. The win was Butler’s 15th straight, tying the longest winning streak in school history!

Maggie McCloskey tied her own school-record with nine three-pointers and Keisha Collins finished with a double-double of 15 points and a career-high 11 assists as Loyola shook off a nine-point halftime deficit to knock off Wright State, 77-68 (OT), this afternoon at the Gentile Center.

Milwaukee rallied from a nine-point second-half deficit to tie at 61 with 3:34 remaining, but Wright State outscored the Panthers 7-2 the rest of the way as the Raiders picked up a 68-63 Horizon League victory at the Nutter Center Thursday night.

On Friday, February 5, the administrative staff of the Wright State University Athletic Department took time to visit the children at Dayton Childrens Hospital. Staff members made the trip to talk and play with the patients and learn more about their activities.
