INDIANAPOLIS --- Christine Halstead, who has most recently worked at the NCAA Eligibility Center, has been named Assistant Director of Championships and Compliance at the Horizon League office, Commissioner Jonathan B. LeCrone announced Tuesday (Sept. 15).
In her new role, Halstead will help manage the Horizon League's championship events, assist in NCAA compliance, and work with the National Letter of Intent program. In addition, she will assist the League's coordinator of men's basketball officiating.
"We are pleased to have Christine join our staff as a member of our championships and compliance teams," said LeCrone. "As a former Horizon League student-athlete, she will bring a unique perspective as we serve our schools and their student-athletes."
At the NCAA Eligibility Center, Halstead managed the Elite Athlete Program after previously serving as an intern at the center, where she worked with amateurism certification cases, the high school review team and the National Letter of Intent program.
Halstead graduated from Valparaiso University in 2008 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, majoring in business management with a minor in public relations. She was a four-year letterwinner for the Crusaders softball team, with her senior season being Valpo's first as a member of the Horizon League.
A native of Indianapolis, Halstead replaces Brandy Ingles, who recently accepted a position as Director of Compliance at Creighton University. Halstead will begin her new duties Sept. 16.
