INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State junior guard Trevon Harmon (Pasadena, Calif.) has been named Horizon League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the week beginning Dec. 27.  The honor is the first of the year for Harmon and second of his career.

Harmon helped the Vikings improve to 4-0 in the Horizon League and 15-1 on the year with home victories over Loyola, 73-55, and UIC, 83-59.

In just 21 minutes on Thursday, Harmon knocked down 6-of-10 field goals en route to 14 points in the win over the visiting Ramblers.  Less than 48 hours later, the junior bettered his effort, knocking down 70-percent of his field goals and 4-of-7 three-point attempts on his way to a career-high 24 points against UIC.

The Pasadena, Calif.-native fueled the Vikings defense, as Cleveland State forced 42 turnovers on the weekend; Harmon came away with eight steals in the two games, helping CSU outscore its opponents, 49-17, off of miscues.

For the week, Harmon averaged 19.0 points, 1.5 assists and 4.0 steals while going 13-for-20 from the field and 5-of-9 from three-point range.

11 months ago, Harmon took home his first League Player of the Week honor on Feb. 8, 2010, after averaging 15.5 points to lead Cleveland State past Loyola and UIC.

ESPNU will televise Cleveland State’s next game, a 7 p.m. ET tip at Butler on Friday, Dec. 7.  The Vikings will wrap up their road trip at Valparaiso on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2:35 p.m. ET, with HorizonLeague.com carrying the contest.

Top Performers for the Week:
Shelvin Mack, Butler (Jr., G) - Mack helped Butler set a Horizon League record with its 22nd straight conference win, scoring 16 points and adding a game-high 6 assists in a 76-59 win over Valparaiso.  The junior moved into 25th place on Butler’s all-time scoring list with 1,131 career points.

Nick Minnerath, Detroit (Jr., F) - Minnerath posted a career-best 21 points in Detroit’s defeat to Milwaukee on Saturday, coming on the heels of a 12-point, 4-block effort in helping the Titans to a 79-56 victory over Green Bay 48 hours earlier.  The junior was a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor on Saturday, missing out on a perfect afternoon from the floor by a single free throw (9-of-10).

Walt Gibler, Loyola (Jr., F) - Averaging 13.5 points and shooting 53 percent from the floor, Gibler helped Loyola split its first Horizon League road trip.  After a loss to Cleveland State on Thursday, Gibler scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Ramblers to a 30-point roll over Youngstown State.  Loyola is 8-0 this season when Gibler finishes with 10 or more points.

Tony Meier, Milwaukee (Jr., F) - Milwaukee’s leading scorer in Horizon League play, Meier averaged 13.0 points and 6.5 rebounds as the Panthers went 1-1 on the road.  Meier came up two rebounds shy of a double-double in Milwaukee’s 84-81 overtime win at Detroit, finishing with 11 points and 8 boards.

Cory Johnson, Valparaiso (Sr., F) - Johnson led the Crusaders with 16 points in a 69-52 victory over visiting Ball State on Tuesday, helping Valpo match a team record with 10 wins before Jan. 1.  The fifth-year senior tied for high-scorer honors with 14 points in a loss at Butler.

Vaughn Duggins, Wright State (Sr., G) - After struggling to adjust to a back brace in his previous two games, Duggins broke out against Green Bay, finishing with a career-high 26 points.  The final three points came on a game-winning three-pointer, as Duggins took the inbounds pass and raced to the left wing to give the Raiders the 67-64 thriller.  The victory extended Wright State’s home-court winning streak to 14 games.

DuShawn Brooks, Youngstown State (Jr., F) - Brooks helped Youngstown State go 1-1 on the weekend, finishing in double figures in both contests while coming off the bench.  Against UIC, Brooks went 5-of-8 from the floor as part of a 13-point effort.  The junior added 11 points in Saturday’s defeat to Loyola.
