Vikings Top UIC 75-73 In Overtime-- Box Score
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Cleveland State women's basketball team picked up its first overtime victory of the season Wednesday evening, earning a 75-73 victory over UIC. The win, which marked the third straight for the Vikings, puts CSU at 13-8 overall this season and 5-3 in Horizon League play. UIC falls to 13-8 overall and 3-5 in league action.

Imani Gordon tallied a team-high 23 points against the Flames, while Cori Coleman added 18 points and Alexis Eckles notched another double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Brooke Smith also recorded double-digit points for the Vikings, notching 13 points along with five rebounds and five assists.

For the contest, CSU shot 43-percent from the field (25-for-57), including a .520 clip during the second half (13-for-25). The Viking defense held UIC to a .373 clip from the field (28-for-75), and forced 15 turnovers. Read more

Women's Basketball Drops Overtime Thriller to Cleveland State, 75-73-- Box Score
CHICAGO – The UIC women’s basketball team (13-8, 3-5 HL) held a 10-point lead at halftime but Cleveland State (13-8, 5-3 HL) rallied back for a 75-73 overtime victory Wednesday night at the UIC Pavilion. The Vikings shot 52 percent in the second half and sank 19 free throws overall.

The Vikings set UIC opponent season highs in points scored (75), field goals made (25) and assists (19). Cleveland State’s 19 made free throws and 28 free throw attempts are the second most by a UIC opponent.

UIC outrebounded CSU 51-40, grabbed 21 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second-chance points. The Flames dished out 19 assists, the second highest single-game total this season. Read more

Oakland Topples First-Place Green Bay, 70-67-- Box Score
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Olivia Nash recorded a double-double and Elena Popkey scored 19 points as the Oakland women's basketball team (10-11, 4-4 HL) upset first-place Green Bay (17-4, 7-1 HL), 70-67, Wednesday night at the Kress Center. The Golden Grizzlies gave the Phoenix, the third-ranked mid-major team in the country, only its sixth loss at home in league play in the last 16 seasons.

Popkey scored her 1,000th career point in the victory, becoming the 26th player in program history to surpass the 1,000 point mark. Nash finished with 21 points and a season-best 14 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Peyton Apsey tied a career-high with eight assists and added nine points.

Oakland trailed by as many as 11 points early in the second half but cut the lead to one after a pair of Zakiya Minifee free throws with 6:10 remaining. Moments later the Golden Grizzlies would take its first lead since the opening half after back-to-back 3-pointers by Popkey and Nash. The Phoenix would tie the game with 2:34 remaining, but the Golden Grizzlies roared back with an Apsey triple to go up 66-61 with 44 seconds on the clock. GB continued to hit shots to keep the game close, but Nola Anderson and Sinclair Russell each hit a pair of clutch free throws in the waning moments to seal the upset win. Read more

Green Bay Falls 70-67 at Home as Winning Streak Ends-- Box Score
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Seeing its eight-game winning streak and perfect Horizon League record come to an end, the Green Bay women’s basketball team fell to Oakland 70-67 at the Kress Center on Wednesday night.

Green Bay (17-4, 7-1 HL) led by 11 with just over 15 minutes remaining in the game, but rebounding and poor shooting allowed the visiting Golden Grizzlies (10-11, 4-4 HL) to steal one. It’s the first time this season the Phoenix has lost at home and the first time it has lost to a team with a sub .500 record.

The game was tied at 59-59 with just over two minutes remaining, before Oakland forward Olivia Nash grabbed one of her 14 rebounds on a missed three-pointer and put the layup in to give her team a two-point lead. Green Bay would inexplicably get called for a five second call, as the team was unable to keep the ball in motion, turning it back over to Oakland. Read more
