Green Bay clinched at least a share of the Horizon League regular season title for the 17th-striaght season. The Phoenix defeated UIC, 71-32, and have three games remaining in conference play.

Titans Earn 78-65 Victory Over Vikings on Senior Day-- Box Score
DETROIT (2/21/2015) -- On Senior Day, senior Ellisha Crosby tied a career-high with six 3-pointers and scored 21 points to help lead the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team to a 78-65 victory over visiting Cleveland State at historic Calihan Hall.

Crosby and fellow senior Brie Wilcox were both honored prior to the contest. The Titans improved to 5-7 in Horizon League play and 10-15 overall. Cleveland State (15-10, 7-5 HL) entered the game third in the conference.

Crosby went 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and played a team-high 39 minutes. She was 7-of-10 from the field overall. Freshman guard Darianne Seward added 21 points for the Titans, while sophomore Rosanna Reynolds posted her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Read more

Vikings Drop 78-65 Contest At Detroit-- Box Score
DETROIT, Mich. – Despite double-doubles from Imani Gordon and Alexis Eckles, the Cleveland State women's basketball team fell at Detroit Saturday afternoon, 78-65. With the loss, the Vikings now stand at 15-10 overall this season and 7-5 in Horizon League play.

Imani Gordon led the Vikings with her fourth double-double of the season, posting a team-high 23 points along with 11 rebounds, while Alexis Eckles notched her seventh double-double of the year with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Brooke Smith tallied a career-high 17 points on the game along with four assists.

Detroit went into the halftime break with a 12-point lead (43-31), and then extended their lead to 55-36 over the first six minutes of the second period. The Vikings responded to this run with 12 straight points of their own, to bring the contest to 55-48 with 10:30 left to play. Read more

Green Bay Throttles UIC to Claim 17th-Straight League Title-- Box Score
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Holding its opponent to a new program-record for lowest field goal percentage allowed and clinching its 17th-straight Horizon League regular season championship in the process, the Green Bay women’s basketball team throttled visiting UIC 71-32 on Saturday afternoon at the Kress Center in its annual PinkZone game.

Green Bay (22-4, 12-1 HL) extended is miraculous league championship streak to 17 without much resistance, dominating the Flames (14-11, 4-8 HL) from the opening tip and holding them to a season-low 32 points. The Phoenix will enter the league tournament as the No. 1 seed and will be awarded home court throughout the tournament.

The Phoenix opened up a 15-2 lead and never trailed in the game, while holding UIC to a season-worst and new school-record 14.9 percent (10-for-67) from the field. Green Bay did not allow a made three-pointer for the first time since Dec. 2, 2011 (0-13 vs Marquette), holding the Flames to a 0-for-14 effort from long range. Read more

Women's Basketball Falls at Green Bay, 71-32-- Box Score
GREEN BAY, Wis. – The UIC women’s basketball team (14-11, 4-8 HL) fell at first-place Green Bay (22-4, 12-1 HL) Saturday afternoon by a 71-32 score. The Phoenix clinched their 17th consecutive regular season conference championship with the victory.

UWGB ran out to a 15-2 advantage and held UIC to 16 percent shooting in the first half to lead 37-14 going into the locker room. The Phoenix shot 54 percent in the first half and made 4-of-10 attempts from downtown. The Flames were limited to four field goals in the second half and the Phoenix made 15-of-20 free throws after halftime.

Green Bay shot a UIC opponent season-high 35 free throws and made 24. The Phoenix also set a UIC opponent season high with eight blocks and committed a UIC opponent season low six turnovers. Read more

Women Defeat Oakland for 20th Win of Season-- Box Score
The Wright State women's basketball team scored the first 10 points of the game and, behind five in double figures, went on to its 20th win of the season, a 92-66 decision over Oakland Saturday afternoon at WSU's Nutter Center. Read more

Oakland Can't Keep Pace with Wright State, 92-66-- Box Score
DAYTON, Ohio - Elena Popkey led the Oakland with a team-high 15 points as the Golden Grizzlies dropped a 92-66 contest to Wright State Saturday afternoon at the Nutter Center. Nola Anderson added 13 points for Oakland, who is now 11-15 overall, 5-8 in Horizon League play.

Trailing 20 at the break, Oakland's first-half deficit was too much to overcome as the Golden Grizzlies could not get within 14 points in the second half and 20 points for the game's final 13:47.

Oakland struggled to get its offense in sync early on, missing their first nine field goal attempts until Peyton Apsey's pull-up jumper with 13:40 to go in the first half to stop Wright State's 10-0 run to start the contest. Read more

Schlegel Delivers Encore Performance in YSU's 87-69 Win at Valpo-- Box Score
Valparaiso, Ind. – Heidi Schlegel scored 38 points for the second consecutive game, and the Youngstown State women's basketball team pulled away in the second half to beat Valparaiso 87-69 on Saturday afternoon at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Schlegel, who also had 38 Thursday night at Milwaukee, set a new school record for points scored in back-to-back road games. The fifth-year senior from Wapakoneta, Ohio, finished the game going 16-for-24 from the field, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range, and 3-for-5 from the free-throw line. She added a game-high 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Penguins, who won for the fourth straight game.

Youngstown State is now 19-7 overall and 8-5 in Horizon League play, which is third in the standings by a half game. Read more
