Crusaders Go Cold in Green Bay--Box Score
A 12-minute field goal drought by the Brown and Gold allowed Green Bay to run away with an 87-45 victory Thursday night at the Kress Events Center.
Jasmyn Walker (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores) led the way for Valpo as she collected her fifth double-double, posting 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Valpo endured a prolonged field goal drought in the middle of the opening period. Walker hit a layup with 14:51 on the clock. The Brown and Gold missed their next 19 shots before Lexi Miller (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia) brought an end to the skid with a nifty and-1 at the 2:44 mark. Miller finished with 12 points. Read more
Schlegel Scores 38 to Lift Penguins to Come-From-Behind Win at Milwaukee-- Box Score
Heidi Schlegel had the highest scoring-game in the Horizon League this season, and the Youngstown State women's basketball team scored the final 11 points to rally for a 79-73 win at Milwaukee on Thursday evening.
Schlegel scored 38 points, tied for the eighth-most in a game in school history, and she had six of those points consecutively in the final 3:04 as the Penguins came from behind for their 18th win of the season.
Schlegel had 14 field goals, but the biggest shot of the night came when Nikki Arbanas hit a 3-pointer at the end of the shot clock with 10.4 seconds left to push YSU's lead to 77-73. Read more
Panthers Drop Heartbreaker To YSU In Final Minutes-- Box Score
MILWAUKEE - Freshman Jenny Linder scored a career-high 25 points to put her team in position for a victory, but Youngstown State University scored the final 11 points of the night to send the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's basketball team to a heartbreaking 79-73 loss Thursday evening at the Klotsche Center.
"It was tough. I felt like we had a lot of opportunities in those last three minutes to put ourselves in a position to win and we didn't take care of the basketball," UWM head coach Kyle Rechlicz said. "We had a majority of our turnovers right down the stretch when the possession of the ball really matters."
Senior Ashley Green put up a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out with 3:04 left in the contest. Her 10 offensive boards tied the school record. Junior Jaleesa Armstrong was also in double-figures with 11. Read more
