INDIANAPOLIS –  Valparaiso (8-2), Oakland (9-1) and Northern Kentucky (7-3) all earned road wins Saturday during nonconference action. The Crusaders handed a strong Missouri State team out of the Missouri Valley Conference its first home loss. Alec Peters converted three free throws with five seconds remaining in the game to seal the victory. Oakland continued to dominate, posting a 21-point win at Robert Morris to improve upon its best Division I start. Northern Kentucky won its fourth consecutive game behind 26 points from Cole Murray, who finished 8-of-11 from 3-point range.

(RV) Valparaiso 84, at Missouri State 81                          
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Alec Peters was fouled while attempting a 3-pointer and made all three free throws with five seconds to play, boosting Valparaiso to an 84-81 victory over Missouri State on Saturday night.

Peters finished with 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double this season. He's scored 20 points or better in all 10 games for Valpo (8-2). Tevonn Walker scored 21 points for the Crusaders. Shane Hammink added 15 and Lexus Williams had 12.

Oakland 74, at Robert Morris 53 
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) -- Jalen Hayes scored 16 points and Oakland beat Robert Morris 74-53 on Saturday for its fifth straight win.

Hayes was 6-of-11 from the field. Martez Walker and Stevie Clark added 13 points apiece for the Golden Grizzlies (9-1), who are off to their best start as a Division I school. Oakland started a program best 10-1 in the 1994-95 season.

Northern Kentucky 80, at SEMO 66                                       
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Cole Murray scored 26 points with the help of eight 3-pointers as Northern Kentucky cruised by Southeast Missouri State 80-66 on Saturday. Murray was 8-of-11 from the field -- all from beyond the arc -- and sank both of his free throws for the Norse (7-3) who have won four straight.

Lavone Holland II added 19 points including three 3-pointers. Murray and Holland helped the team average 46.4 percent shooting from 3-point range and 49 percent from the field overall.
