HORIZON LEAGUE TEAM NOTES
BUTLER BULLDOGS (6-3 overall, 0-0 HL)
Butler outscored Cincinnati, 24-5, over an 8:03 span in the second half of Sunday's game. The Bulldogs went on to post a 65-48 victory over the Bearcats.Butler has won its past four games by an average of 17 points. In addition to Cincinnati, the Bulldogs own victories over Evansville, Miami (Ohio) and Indiana State during the stretch.Butler, which shot 80 percent at the free-throw line last week, is 55-for-74 (.743) over the last three games.Junior Brittany Bowen tied her career high with 25 points at Cincinnati. She also had 25 in a double-overtime win at Miami (Ohio) last December.
CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (3-5 overall, 0-0 HL)
Junior Shawnita Garland recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and a personal-high 12 rebounds in Sunday's 70-59 win over Niagara.Sophomore Takima Keane hit 4-of-6 from the field en route to a career-high nine points at Niagara.Cleveland State out-rebounded Niagara, 42-34.
DETROIT TITANS (1-7 overall, 0-0 HL)
Freshman Kassandra Hooten came off the bench to score a career-best 12 points on Wednesday against Bowling Green. She also shared team-high honors with seven rebounds vs. the Falcons.Five Detroit players scored 10+ points on Sunday at Morehead State. Freshman Demeisha Fambro and sophomore Jalesa Jones led the way with 15 points apiece. Jones also tied her season high with seven assists vs. the Eagles.
#23 GREEN BAY PHOENIX (9-0 overall, 0-0 HL)
Green Bay has won an all-time best 27 consecutive regular-season contests.The Phoenix has tied its best start in school history at 9-0.Green Bay posted an 83-37 win over Evansville on Saturday. The decision marked UWGB's largest margin of victory (46) and best defensive effort (37) this season.Green Bay ranks in the NCAA's Top 10 for free-throw percentage (5th, .804), assists per game (10th, 18.7) and turnover margin (10th, 7.11).
LOYOLA RAMBLERS (4-3 overall, 0-0 HL)
Loyola was idle last week. The Ramblers return to action on Thursday when they host Northern Illinois at 8 p.m. ET.
MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (5-4 overall, 0-0 HL)
Milwaukee has nailed 13-of-23 (.565) from three-point range over its past two games. UWM has also connected from long range in 218 straight contests.Milwaukee is 5-0 when scoring at least 70 points this season. The Panthers have won 25 of their last 28 contests when reaching the 70-point plateau.Junior Ashley Imperiale posted her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday's 73-56 win over Chicago State.Milwaukee knocked down 19-for-22 (.864) from the free-throw line for the second time this season against Chicago State.
UIC FLAMES (2-6 overall, 0-0 HL)
Senior Cassie Johnson recorded a career-high seven blocked shots in Sunday's 69-47 victory over Western Michigan. As a team, UIC now ranks seventh in the country with 6.4 rejections per game.UIC shot a season-best 56 percent (28-for-50) from the field vs. Western Michigan, while holding the Broncos to 27 percent (18-for-67) from the floor.The Flames will close the non-conference portion of their schedule with three straight in-state foes -- Illinois State, Eastern Illinois and Northern Illinois.
VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (3-5 overall, 0-0 HL)
Senior Lauren Kenney has tallied double figures in all eight games this year and 13 straight dating back to last year. Kenney leads the League in scoring (15.5 ppg).Freshman Raegan Moore scored a career-high 16 points on Saturday at Notre Dame after having tallied just four points in her first six collegiate affairs.Valparaiso will play its third straight game against the Big East Conference next Monday at Cincinnati.
WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (4-3 overall, 0-0 HL)
Senior Kanisha Ward, who ranks 19th in the nation with a .909 free-throw clip, is on pace to set a career high for free-throw attempts and makes in a season.Wright State scored 40+ points for the fourth time this season in the second half of Wednesday's contest against Miami (Ohio). The Raiders are averaging 36.4 points in the final 20 minutes of their games this season.Sophomore Maria Bennett has made at least one trey in 15 straight games.
YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (0-9 overall, 0-0 HL)
Junior Bojana Dimitrov returned to the line-up last week after missing two games with a concussion. Dimitrov scored 13 points on Sunday against Buffalo.Freshman Brandi Brown was held to a season-low five rebounds at Buffalo, but she has still led YSU or tied for the team lead in rebounds in every 2009-10 game.
