Indianapolis—Youngstown State sophomore D.J. Holub (Reminder, Ohio) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Golfer of the Week for the period of Apr. 16-22.
Holub placed 11th with a three-round total of 218 at the Rutherford Invitational hosted by Penn State. He shot rounds of 70-73-75 to lead the Penguins to an eighth-place finish. In total, the right-handed golfer made eight birdies to finish at five-over par.
Holub, who shot a 64 earlier this season at the John Piper Intercollegiate, is averaging 75.12 strokes per round. The Penguins have a league-best four golfers ranked inside the top-12 in scoring average.
Next up for the league is the 2014 Horizon League Golf Championships at Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The 54-hole event is contested April 25-27 with the men playing the El Campéon Course and the women playing the Las Colinas Course. Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. ET with live scoring available at Golfstat.com (men and women).
