INDIANAPOLIS – After day one at the 2011 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the men’s and women’s discus and 10,000 meter run is complete, as well as half of the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon events.

On the men’s side, Scott Erickson, a freshman from Milwaukee won the discus with a mark of 49.25m and Justin Roeder, a senior from Butler, won the 10,000m run finishing in a time of 30:04.39. In the decathlon, Ben Crogan, Youngstown State junior is leading with 3,648 points, followed by Drew Feuk from Milwaukee with 3,414 points.

On the women’s side, Milwaukee sophomore, Shelby Schaal is leading the heptathlon with a total of 2,939 points, followed closely by Kylie Kopp, a Wright State sophomore with 2,846 points. Youngstown State junior, Alison Roth, won the discus with a mark of 45.91m and Butler sophomore, Lauren McKillop, won the women’s 10,000m in a time of 35:48.67.

Saturday’s competition will begin at 9am(EST) with the decathlon and heptathlon events. Field events will begin at 1:30pm with running events starting at 3pm.
