INDIANAPOLIS – After day three at the 2011 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Milwaukee claimed both the men and women championship titles for the second-consecutive year in a row. It was an exciting day as the women’s title came down to the last event, the 4 x 400 meter Relay, with Milwaukee winning in a time of 3:49.10. Youngstown State men and women finished second, with Butler placing third on both sides.

Youngstown State led the men’s pack in individual event champions with Michael Davis winning the 200m, finishing in a time of 21.50. Martin Solomon won both the 110m and 400m hurdles, finishing the 100 hurdles in a time of 14.56 and the 400 hurdles in a time of 53.10. Penguin senior, Brian Ehrhardt won the men’s high jump with a leap of 2.06m. Bobby Grace won the shot put with a mark of 16.14m and John Sever took second-place with a throw of 16.05m.

Detroit junior, Vushaun Landrum, won the 100m dash, finishing in a time of 10.63 and teammate Lesley Hanna won the 400m in a time of 47.28.

Bulldog senior and Horizon League Outstanding Runner of the Year, Kris Gauson, won the 1,500m, setting a new meet record in a time of 3:48.00. Teammate Matt Proctor won the 5,000m in a time of 14.39.80.

Declan Murray, Loyola sophomore, won the 800m in a time of 1:50.16 while teammate James McLachlan, 2011 Horizon League Men’s Newcomer of the Year for Field Events, won the triple jump with a leap of 14.92m. The Ramblers also won the 4 x 400m Relay, finishing in a time of 3:14.25.

UIC men won the 4 x 100m relay, finishing in a time of 41.36.

Other specialty award winners were Valparaiso’s, Julian Smith, the 2011 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year for Running Events and Milwaukee senior, Ben Crogan, the 2011 Horizon League Outstanding Performer for Field Events.

On the women’s side, Youngstown State combined for a total of five individual champions and three specialty award winners. The 2011 Women’s Newcomer of the Year for Running Events, Ciara Jarrett, won the 100m (11.80) andset a meet record in the 200m, winning in a time of 23.92.Teammate Katrina Rettburg won the women’s high jump with a leap of 1.65m. The 2011 Horizon League Outstanding Field Event Performer, Kaitlyn Griffith, won the shot put with a mark of 14.13m and Jessica Parham was awarded the 2011 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year for Field Events, winning the hammer and javelin events on Saturday.

Butler sophomore, Katie Clark won the 5,000m, setting a new meet record in a time of 16:51.14 and teammate, Kirsty Legg, won the 800m (2:12.33) and 1,500m (4:29.22) events.

Other individual event winners include Loyola junior, Nicole Noelliste, new meet record holder in the 400m hurdle (1:00.13) and Detroit senior, Sequoyia Calhoun, winner in the 400m (54.93).

Cassandra Lloyd, Wright State junior and 2011 Horizon League Outstanding Performer for Running Events, won the 100m hurdles, setting a Horizon League meet record, finishing in a time of 13.58. The Raider 4 x 100m Relay team won its event, finishing in a time of 46.68.

Milwaukee head coach, Pete Corfeld was the Men’s and Women’s Horizon League Coach of the Year.
