ESTERO, Fla. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Leading for all but 26 seconds, the Green Bay women’s basketball team coasted to a 71-50 victory over Georgia Tech on Friday afternoon in its first game at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Germain Arena.
The Phoenix (4-1) raced out to a 6-0 lead on the back of two-straight three-pointers from standout-sophomore Tesha Buck (Red Wing, Minn.) to open the game. Green Bay led the game for 39:34, while never trailing the ACC-member Yellow Jackets (4-2).
“Tesha hit a couple of three’s that got us going. Our defense did a really good job against a very quality opponent, it’s a great win for us,” head coach Kevin Borseth said. Read more
Oakland Best RedHawks, 65-51-- Box Score
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Olivia Nash scored 13 points with nine rebounds and Peyton Apsey recorded 11 points, seven boards and eight assists as Oakland defeated Miami University, 65-51, in women's basketball action Friday night inside the Athletics Center O'rena. The Golden Grizzlies improve to 2-0 this season at home.
Nash tallied her third double-figure scoring effort of the season, while Apsey recorded career-highs in assists and rebounds to go along with her season-high 11 points. Nola Anderson added 12 points and Sinclair Russell tied a career-high with 10 rebounds.
With the score 50-43 late in the second half, the Golden Grizzlies would go on a 15-4 run to take an 18-point advantage. Nash led the way with four points during the run as five different Oakland players scored during the run to secure the victory. Oakland shot 35.1 percent (13-37) in the second period including 41.2 percent (7-17) from behind the arc. Read more
