ROCHESTER, Mich. - Amy Carlton scored a career-high 18 points, while Olivia Nash and Elena Popkey each recorded double-doubles as Oakland defeated IPFW, 92-84, in women's basketball action on Monday. The 92 points is the most scored against a Division I opponent this season.
Carlton shot 6-for-9 from the floor including a perfect 5-for-5 with four 3-pointers in the second half. Popkey tallied a career-best 12 assists, the most for an Oakland player since 2010, to go along with 17 points for her first double-double of the season and Nash finished with her fourth double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Nola Anderson recorded a career-high with 15 points, while Sinclair Russell set a career-best with five blocks and added 13 points.
After a back-and-forth second half, the game was tied at 67-67 late in the period before Oakland went on a 13-4 run to take a nine-point advantage led by back-to-back triples by Carlton and Anderson. The Golden Grizzlies shot 57.1 percent (20-35) in the second half and scored 55 points, the most points in a half against a Division I opponent since 2011. Read more
